Episode overview
"We’ve been on the open road now for what must be the last 15 or 16 days and it just keeps on getting better and better. I’m cooking my way through southern Africa, meeting new people and going to new places every couple of days on what’s working out to be a road trip of a lifetime."

Hogsback to Adelaide is only 60 odd kilometres by road and even less as the crow flies but the change in scenery is dramatic as we travel the back roads to a friend’s game reserve just out of Adelaide.

“Ok, it’s cool. We got to go... 3km’s that way, 10km’s that way and then we going to get to Terry’s spot... to see the house that he built. Stopping here overnight, on our way up to the Transkei, at Molweni private game farm. Can’t wait till we get there... and then tomorrow, Wildcoast. The nice thing about staying at a friends house, is that you really can relax, and that’s exactly what we need after days and days on the road... a little bit of R&R.”

So while Justin prepares a kebab fondue, the crew go on a game drive with Terry and son, Bo and Cass have a mud fight and Justin shows us how to make stuffed stick bread and what an African marshmallow tree is.

"So, uh… We’re on our way down to the Transkei tomorrow to recharge our batteries and um,….yeah, we’ll see you tomorrow. Give me our marshmallow tree, and by the way, this is a marshmallow tree. It’s indigenous to Southern Africa guys, so you don’t find this anywhere else in the world. And this is how you cook it..."

Dale: "Turn it. Turn it and burn it."
Bo: "Quickly, very quickly!"
Justin: "I’m on it man, don’t worry about me."

We leave Terry’s farm the following morning and travel the back roads to a secret spot on the Wild Coast and most of us get a bit lost.

Gareth: "I like the way Justin says: “...First fork left, second fork right, third fork right... Nothing about the fifth or sixth forks..."
Robbie: "Or the seventh, so we turn around and go back..." (laughter).

That afternoon, Justin & Gordon make sweet and sour cocktails, Gareth feeds us Sashimi and Justin pan fries some Tuna.

“Now this is just a little taster to what’s about to happen over the next couple of days, while we spend our time in the Wildcoast, recharging our batteries... all of these people, along this coast. Gareth and I are going to do a little bit of fishing. Hopefully we... do better than our Hogsback episode..."

"After lunch we all had a bit of tranquil chill out time and then Candy turned our worlds on their heads and threw us an in-promptu Hat Party.”
